Description
Red Kangaroos are the largest species of kangaroo and can be over 6 feet (1.8 metres) in height so that is a big roo!
Kangaroos have enlarge hind feed and a strong tail that helps them hop. Some species like the red kangaroo, can hop as high as 10 feet (3 metres) and 40 feet horizontally (12 metres).
Even with their small front arms, kangaroos are great swimmers. As well as using their powerful back legs in a kind of dog-paddle movement, they also use their muscular tail to help them.
A male kangaroo is called a buck and a female is a doe. A young kangaroo is called a joey and a group of kangaroos is called a mob.
