Description
Did you know a group of hedgehogs is called an “array”? But actually they don’t usually get together in a group except when they mate as they are quite solitary animals.
They have between 5000 and 7000 quills so that’s a lot of ouch if you grab hold of one but they aren’t poisonous. They have very poor eyesight and rely on their hearing and sense of smell to figure out where they are going.
Weird fact: When exposed to pungent smells or tastes, hedgehogs exhibit a behavior called ‘self-anointing’ in which they rub frothy saliva on their quills. Why? No one knows. Except them of course!
Our pint-sized Spunky the Hedgehog stuffed animal is all of the cuddles without any of the prickles!
